Celebrate Earth Day with Eco-Friendly Water Systems!

Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to stop and consider how we can do better at reducing water waste. Water isn’t something to take for granted – its one of our most valuable resources. We should know the value of eco-friendly water systems.

At CGC, we know the importance of environmentally friendly water treatment systems. With our products, you will be able to use water and energy more efficiently. Every Kinetico system is non-electric and uses up to 70 percent less salt and water than other water treatment systems. Kinetico also offers reverse osmosis filtration systems, which are an EPA-recommended solution to most effectively remove contaminants from water.

Here are some steps you can take to use water more efficiently in your home:

  • Shorten your showers: To use less water, aim for 5-minute showers.
  • Always check for leaks in pipes, hoses, and faucets: Leaks can cause water to go to waste and cause damage in your home.
  • Only flush toilets when absolutely necessary: Every flush is using 5 gallons to 7 gallons of water.
  • Turn off Faucets: When brushing your teeth, taking a shower or washing dishes make sure the water isn’t running when it’s not needed.

Earth Day is in its 50th year this year on April 22nd. The theme of Earth Day 2020 is “Climate Action.” With Earth Day 2020 quickly coming up, let’s take a look at a few facts to motivate us all to consider our impact on the environment and take action against water waste:

  1. In March 1970, the University of Michigan held the nation’s first “Environmental Teach-In.” It drew more than 15,000 participants and served as a model for the first-ever Earth Day on April 22, 1970.
  2. Kinetico is the producer of the “The World’s Most Efficient Water Softener.”
  3. National Geographic states that less than 1% of the water supply on Earth can be used as drinking water.
  4. The Great Lakes Region is the primary water source for more than 40 million people, according to www.michigan.org.
  5. According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, there are still an estimated 240,000 water main breaks per year in the United States, wasting more than 2 trillion gallons of treated drinking water.
  6. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection reports, the Florida Legislature, through the Energy, Climate Change and Economic Security Act of 2008, established a statewide weight-based recycling goal of 75 percent by 2020.
  7. A point-of-use drinking water filtration system, such as Reverse Osmosis, costs only pennies per gallon of purified water, allows people to refill water bottles, and keeps more water bottles out of landfills.

Contact CGC today to discuss the options we have to help you use water more efficiently! Happy Earth Day, everyone!
