Water Treatment and Plumbing Services in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Residents across Sterling Heights trust CGC Home Services to solve their toughest water quality and plumbing challenges. Our family-owned business has spent 80 years perfecting water filtration technology and plumbing services that deliver results homeowners can see and taste.

Expert Water Treatment and Filtration Services

Michigan’s tap water is known to contain arsenic, PFAS, chlorine and many other contaminants. We offer multiple solutions to improve water quality throughout your home:

Nonelectric water softener

Homeowners in the area typically have water with high mineral content that wreaks havoc on appliances and plumbing. You might notice spots on dishes or soap scum on shower walls caused by hard water. Our Kinetico® Incorporated systems operate without electricity, using only water pressure to regenerate. These systems can support lower utility bills and offer reliable performance even during power outages. You can also experience smoother skin and hair with soft water.

Reverse osmosis systems

We can install a reverse osmosis system to eliminate up to 99% of contaminants, delivering cleaner, safer water straight from your kitchen faucet. Third-party certified solutions like the Kinetico® K5 Drinking Water Station offer protection from the most common PFAS, or “forever chemicals.”

UV disinfection systems

Chemical-free protection that neutralizes bacteria and viruses, safeguarding your entire household water supply.

Carbon filtration systems

Every home faces different water issues, such as chemical buildup that affects taste and safety. We design filtration solutions with whole-home carbon filters that target your specific concerns, like chlorine and fluoride.

Free water quality testing

Curious about your water’s hardness level or concerned about contamination? We’ll test your water at no charge and explain exactly what treatment will help.

Iron removal solutions

Prevent rust stains on laundry, fixtures and appliances by effectively filtering out excessive iron in your water.

⭐ 1/5 — If zero stars were an option, I would give zero. I am writing this review after receiving no response or follow-up from CGC Water Treatment regarding several serious, unresolved issues. System failure: Our water treatment system experienced a major failure within the first year. Misleading product information: At installation, I specifically asked whether I could continue using standard filters and was told by the installer that I could. I later discovered that the system requires expensive proprietary filters. These filters were also presented as reusable/washable, but I found them extremely difficult and time-consuming to clean. Billing issue: A $50 coupon I presented when purchasing filters was never applied to my balance. Despite multiple emails detailing these issues, CGC has provided absolutely no support, response, or attempt to resolve the situation. Due to their complete lack of communication, I am now moving forward with formal complaints to the Better Business Bureau and the Michigan Attorney General's Office. I strongly advise others to look elsewhere for their water treatment needs.

Came out right away and did a good job.

Jason is outstanding.

We called this company to replace the expansion tank on our well-pump system. The technician insisted they would install only a fiberglass tank. Eventually, they agreed to install a steel tank if we purchased it ourselves—which we did, for about half the price. The tank is located in a laundry room, not a basement or wet environment. The installation was completed on Friday and cost just shy of $1,400. I was out of town and unable to handle the work myself, so we reluctantly accepted the price. By Saturday, just 24 hours after the Friday close of business, one of the newly connected pipes burst, spraying pressurized water inside the house. Thankfully, we shut off the water within minutes. The company advertises emergency service on its website, so I called immediately. An AI voice collected my information and promised someone would be in touch. Four calls and almost 14 hours later, we never heard from an actual person but we were able to book an appointment on the website for Monday. At first, the earliest we could book was Wednesday, but we managed to negotiate our “emergency” down to only two days without water. Apparently, their emergency service consists of an AI answering the phone and offering emotional support while your house floods. We ultimately found another company that came out and repaired the burst pipe the same day. That was fortunate, because waiting until Monday, or Wednesday, without running water was not especially appealing. Oddly enough, the technician showed a highly corroded piece of steel pipe thread into a brittle and cracked pvc connection at the exact connection point to the tank. I guess that inspecting the connecting pipe was a little much. From the insistence on the more expensive tank, to the nearly $1,400 installation, to the pipe failing the next day, to the nonexistent weekend emergency response, this experience was unacceptable from start to finish. I would not recommend this company to anyone. One star, only because Google has not yet introduced negative numbers. Please, for the love of all things Holy, do not use this company. They basically took a donation of over a $1000 and made our plumbing issue worse.

FAQs About Water Treatment and Filtration Service in Sterling Heights

What causes hard water?

Municipal water contains dissolved minerals — primarily calcium and magnesium — that accumulate as the water travels through underground aquifers. These minerals create the scale you see on fixtures or the spots you find on your glassware. These minerals can even make soap less effective. Water softeners exchange these hardness minerals for sodium, eliminating the problems before water enters your home’s plumbing.

While we focus on helping homeowners invest in systems they own, we can discuss all your options during your free consultation. Owning a system typically costs less over time and gives you full control over maintenance schedules. We’ll provide transparent pricing so you can make the best decision for your household.
